Series 'M': Cards with makers' own aces from 1862-1900
After the Old Frizzle aces, from 1862 makers were able to design their own (the tax remained payable, on the wrappers).
The series goes up to 1900 purely to limit the size and scope of examples...
The rightmost column refers to types identified in The Standard English Pattern by Ken Lodge,
and /or in Michael Goodall's series of books on Minor british Playing card Makers of the 19th Century.
